MapVantage is the trading name of Samuel Ofoborey, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. We manage Google Business Profiles for local businesses.
We are the “data controller” for the personal information described in this notice.
Contact: hello@mapvantage.co.uk
When you request a free audit through the form on this website, we collect:
| Information | Required? |
|---|---|
| Your name | Yes |
| Your business name | Yes |
| Your email address | Yes |
| Your phone number | Optional |
| Anything you tell us in the message box | Optional |
When you email us at hello@mapvantage.co.uk, we hold the contents of that email and your address.
When you become a client, we hold the business and contact details needed to deliver the service, along with records of the work we do for you.
When we research potential business clients, we may record public business-level information such as the business name, website, industry, town, the public source we checked and observations about its public online presence. Our discovery tool is not designed to collect people’s names, email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses or personal social profiles.
This website does not use cookies. It has no analytics, no tracking pixels and no advertising tags. We don’t build a profile of you from your browsing, and there is nothing here for you to consent to or opt out of.
We do not sell your information, or share it for anyone else’s marketing.
One thing we should mention: this site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. Doing so sends your IP address to Google as part of the request for those files. No cookie is set and we receive nothing from it, but we’d rather tell you than leave it unsaid.
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Reply to your audit request and prepare the audit | Taking steps at your request before entering a contract (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Deliver our service to clients | Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Keep records of enquiries and work done | Legitimate interests — running and evidencing our business (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Research and assess potentially suitable business clients using public business sources | Legitimate interests — developing our business in a targeted, proportionate way (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Keep a record of anyone who asks not to be contacted | Legal obligation, and our legitimate interest in honouring that request (Art. 6(1)(c) and (f)) |
| Meet tax and accounting duties | Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) |
If we ever contact you about our services when you haven’t asked us to, we rely on legitimate interests and, where the law requires it, your consent. You can tell us to stop at any time and we will — see “Opting out” below.
We use a small number of service providers who process information on our behalf, under contract:
| Provider | What they handle | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Netlify | Hosts this website and receives audit form submissions | United States |
| Zoho | Our email (hello@mapvantage.co.uk) | European Union |
| Supabase | Our client management system database | United Kingdom (London) |
| OpenAI | Helps us search public business sources, organise our notes, assess leads and draft work for human review | United States |
Netlify and OpenAI process data in the United States. Those transfers are covered by the standard safeguards required under UK data protection law (the International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses).
A word on the OpenAI part, because we’d rather be clear than brief. We use an AI service in two ways: to search public business sources for potentially relevant local businesses, and to organise notes we have already written ourselves into audit, scoring and outreach drafts. Public-source searches are limited to business-level information and retain the source links; they are not designed to collect people’s names, email addresses or phone numbers. For stored client or lead work, we remove known names, email addresses and phone numbers before sending note content. A person decides whether a discovered business enters our records and reviews anything before it is sent. The AI does not decide whether anyone may be contacted and does not contact anyone itself.
We may also share information where the law requires it — for example with HMRC, or in response to a lawful request.
| Information | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Audit enquiries that don’t become clients | 12 months from your last contact with us, then deleted |
| Public-business research that does not become an active lead | Reviewed periodically and kept for no longer than 24 months, including enough source information to avoid repeating the same research |
| Client records | For the duration of the contract, then 6 years to meet tax and accounting requirements |
| Records of people who asked not to be contacted | Indefinitely — we have to keep these to make sure we don’t contact you again |
That last one is deliberate: the only way to reliably honour an opt-out is to remember it.
Email hello@mapvantage.co.uk and ask us to stop contacting you. We’ll record it and act on it. You don’t need to give a reason, and it takes effect straight away.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
To exercise any of these, email hello@mapvantage.co.uk. We’ll respond within one month.
We do not make any decisions about you by automated means that have a legal or similarly significant effect.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first — we’d rather put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office:
